Danske Bank

Background

Danske bank NI is part of the Danish-based Danske Bank Group and is one of the leading retail banks in Northern Ireland. As part of their 'Get fit for Life' campaign Employee Wellbeing were asked to audit current employee wellbeing levels and deliver a useful online intervention which would also provide a central source of information for all Danskebank’s wellbeing initiatives and events.

Solution

We worked closely with Danske bank to develop a version of the wellhub, an online wellbeing platform, which fully satisfied all their needs.

The wellhub pulls together Danskebank’s diverse wellbeing initiatives, communications and resources into an integrated wellbeing profile. It creates a central point from which Danskebank can disseminate internal and external information relating to the physical, social and mental wellbeing of employees. For example, information regarding social, team building and charity fund raising activities is available alongside organisational policies, contact information and over 4500 webpages of health and wellbeing resources. The wellhub engages employees and encourages them to become involved in wellbeing initiatives and activities. It reflects Danskebank’s commitment to the wellbeing of their employees and reflects their overall values. It allow Danskebank to implement themed well-being campaigns and to provide diverse well-being support.

Outcomes

Employee response to the wellhub has been very positive. Initiatives promoted through the wellhub have resulted in 60% of Danskebank employees logging in over one day alone. The wellhub engages employees and encourages employee involvement and interaction through initiatives and fun events such as bowling nights, walking clubs, salsa / line dancing classes, reduced gym membership, and the sharing of health recipes and the publication of an internal recipe book.

Since the launch of the Well-Being: Get Fit For Life campaign, wellbeing has become central to team briefings, training, strategic messages and day to day work, which is exactly what Danskebank hoped for. Employees are using the wellhub on a daily basis and feedback has been great.

The introduction of the campaign has witnessed lower absence levels, increased levels of employee engagement, customer satisfaction levels, and external recognition in the form of health and wellbeing awards (Workplace Health and Wellbeing Award, Business in The Community Awards; Work, Life & Wellbeing: Large Organisation award, Irish News Awards). Ultimately, this has impacted positively on Danske Bank’s performance.

"The wellhub hub is user friendly, from both an employee and an administrator perspective. Our employees are using the wellhub on a daily basis and have provided positive feedback on the beneficial gains for their own personal and their families’ well-being"
